Amazon.com Product Description Amazon.com Product Description Mitsubishi's LT-40134 is a 40-inch 1080p flat panel HDTV that incorporates the latest technologies for more accurate color reproduction and a picture that is more life-like than before. This 40-inch HDTV would be ideal as part of a home theater system in a small-to-medium-sized room.
With Deep Color technology, shaded images show less banding and greater contrast. View larger. |

TV Guide is built in so you'll always know what's on. View TV guide menu. | Lots Of Pixels In a Small Thin Box The LT-40134 is just six inches thick but packs in a lot of technology for outstanding performance. Quality speakers are hidden away to maintain a beautiful, minimalist look that takes up less space in your room. The display is 1080p, which means it has the full 1920 x 1080 high definition resolution with progressive scan that is the highest quality HDTV standard today. With large televisions, this is important, as having a dense array of over two million pixels prevents the eye from seeing pixelation, especially at close distances. The television is able to display any video signal that is connected to it. When a 1080p signal is the input, it is passed through with no down conversion, and the 1080p signal is maintained from beginning to end, giving the best picture quality. When a lower resolution is detected, whether it is 720p HD or a DVD, the signal is automatically scaled to display at 1080p, with minimal side effects and a very detailed picture. Vibrant Colors You've Never Seen Before The LT-40134 incorporates a slew of new technologies that give this television the most realistic color reproduction available on the market today. The new x.v.Color standard is supported, which dramatically increases the color space available, with 80% more color than standard HDTV. The television also supports Deep Color, a new standard that incorporates 10-bit color depth versus the previous 8-bit color depth. With Deep Color, shaded images show less banding and greater contrast. Mitsubishi's Full Spectrum Color is an exclusive system that uses a wide range of phosphors in the LCD's backlight for brighter and more vivid reds and yellows, and more shades of green, cyan, and blue. Along with Mitsubishi's Color 4D Noise Reduction, PerfectColor, and PerfectTint, you get a wider color palette and the ability to fine tune the set to your exact preferences. The end result is a picture that is brighter, smoother, and more realistic than ever, with colors that have never been seen on a television set before. Connections Galore You don't need to worry about running out of connections with the LT-40134. It has a total of three HDMI 1.3 inputs with Simplay HD certification, so you can connect your Blu-Ray player and HD DVD player, and still have an input left over. It also has three component video inputs (two rear, one side), a side USB connection so you can display up to five megapixel photographs on the television, and two rear A/V inputs with S-Video, as well as a Dolby Digital/PCM output and an analog stereo output. Simple Controls Mitsuibishi's NetCommand allows the included partially-illuminated remote to control an entire home theater system. NetCommand is an on-screen system with simple and intuitive icon-based controls. The LT-41034 also has TV Guide Daily built in, so you have a program guide available all the time. The LT-40134 is backed by a limited 1-year parts and labor warranty. What's in the Box LT-40134 40-inch LCD HDTV, remote control, two AA batteries, owner's guide, quick reference guide, quick connect guide, product registration card, cable tie, and cable clamp.

awesome hdtv October 4, 2007 ILuvHiDef (Allenhurst, NJ United States) 27 out of 27 found this review helpful
Awesome tv! I was ready to purchase the Samsung 37". However, I was a bit put off by its shiny (i.e., distracting) high gloss frame. Then, I found that the Mitsubishi 40" was the same overall size as the Samsung 37" and the Mitsubishi's bezel is so small its almost invisible!
The Mits 40134 is definitely the way to go over the stripped down 40133. The 134 has dynamic contrast enhancement while the 133 does not. It also has "edge detail enhancement processing" which really does work. You can clearly see the difference even in the menu display while turning this feature on/off. Also, the 134's remote command feature provides 2, wired, InfraRed transmitters which allows the 134 to control other devices such as your cable box and DVD. I haven't yet used the 134's "TV Guide" capability so I can't comment on that.
If you do get this set, I recommend that you switch it from the default "Brilliant" picture setting to "Normal".
Small bevel and excellent color! October 18, 2007 Happy Camper (Austin, Texas) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
Although I had my mind on a SHARP, I purchased the Mitsuibishi as it was the largest screen nice that would fit into an Ethan Allen Armoire we have. The Mitsuibishi has a very thin bevel around the frame which means you can pack in more screen size into a limited space. The 40 inch Mitsuibishi cleared by a half inch - just perfect. This was the only 40 inch TV I could get for this furniture. Otherwise, I would of had to have gone with a 37 inch model.
At first I was nervous about the brand as all the advertising and press seems to go to the big three - LG, SAMSUNG, and SHARP. Consumer Reports has never even tested a Mitsuibishi LCD TV. Well, the color is just fabulous. Mitsuibishi claims 25% more color than standard HD-LCD TV's. The set-up was easy and intuitive. You can even program the TV when you want it to come one each day. We also enjoy the side panel which allows you to connect just about anything including a USB drive. Mitsuibishi included some built in slideshow software so that you can easily watch your photos automatically when you connect the thumb drive to the USB port. Why wife really was glad we ended up picking this one. It way cost slightly more than the big 3 brands, but were glad we bought it.
Loving This TV So Far September 20, 2007 brakmaster (Houston, TX United States) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought this TV recently and I haven't been able to stop talking about it. I looked at several TVs around this size and kept coming back to this particular model. The blacks are very deep and the contrast is crystal clear. HD sports, music, and science shows are absolutely engrossing now.
This model offers a wide variety of inputs (HDMI and component) and the system menu is very user friendly. Mitsubishi TVs feature a 'learning' remote control that seems a little complicated at first (and you don't have to use it at all). However, it's pretty cool and can turn on your receiver/cable box when you turn on the tv, pause your dvr when switching to a video game, etc. It took me a while to configure, but it's quite worth it.
You can buy a TV this size for less, but go ahead and scratch up the money for one of these. I'm very, very glad that I did.
Great monitor August 20, 2007 J. Demetris (NJ) 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
Just picked up this monitor yesterday. Initial observations are that this is a really nice monitor. Clear, good color, even looks good with standard definition tv signals, can process full 1080p HD signals. My last Mitsubishi TV lasted 16 years without a hiccup (until it finally died), I'm hoping for a similar outcome with this TV. Compared it to Sony, Sharp, Philips, Visio (yuck), JVC, etc. Not the largest TV on the market, but one must consider how close you'll be sitting to the screen.
Great picture March 5, 2008 mskenny (Ashland, MA USA) Update May, 2010: I had to return this TV for warranty service (just within the 1 year warranty) because of a row of dead pixels. They didn't give me any hassle about returning it though it took about 2 and a half months to get it back. Now, another year later, the screen has dimmed, with only a small section on the right-hand side still at the original brightness. Also, there are power problems; the TV just turns itself off occasionally and you sometimes have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to come back on. Conclusion: don't buy a Mitsubishi TV.
I bought this TV two months ago, and I'm very happy with it. The picture is excellent with HD programming (1080i and 720p,) and even with 480p inputs. As for analog signals, well, it's as good as I've seen, but you just have to accept that plain old TV will never look that good on a HDTV. I've also hooked the TV up to a Dell computer with a DVI to HDMI cable, and get a brilliant 1080p picture. The computer runs Vista Media Center using digital cable tuners with cable cards, and the picture is superb from this setup, much better than the component input picture from my Comcast cable box.
The TV automatically recognizes most things you plug in, and sets up the input for you. I haven't used the universal remote features, as I have a Harmony remote, so I can't comment on those, but the remote seems reasonably easy to use. The menus are pretty easy to navigate, but if you linger too long in changing a setting the menu goes away; this can be a bit frustrating.
The only negative I've seen so far is that I can see variations in the screen surface, like bands, but these only show up when there is sunlight reflecting off the screen. They're invisible at night, or when the sunlight isn't very bright. I also wish the TV had picture-in-picture (PIP,) but that's not a knock on what's in the TV as it is.
The TV appealed to me as it needed to fit in an armoire that has a 37 inch platform. It just barely fits, but I got the maximum screen size I could fit in the armoire, so I'm happy. I'd have had to settle for a 37 inch screen otherwise. I'd definitely recommend the TV to anyone looking for a 40 inch LCD screen.
